Unknown to Nick Stephen had been having an affair with Helen before she dissappeared. 8 years after this Nick, Stephen and Connor went to invetigate a creature sighting in the Forest of Dean. Stephen tracked the creature to a local school where he saved a teacher and a student from the creature, which was a Gorgonopsid. Stephen was knocked out but returned to fight the creature again later when it attacked Nick and the others.

Stephen joined the anomaly opperation, but almost died when he was bitten by a huge prehistoric centipede. Stephen admitted his feelings for Abby while the venom from the arthroplura made him delirious. However, Stephen allready had a girlfriend. In episode 6 a future predator came through a Permain anomaly and so Nick and Helen went to investigate. When they returned Helen revealed that him and Helen had had an affair.

In Series 2 Stephen was visited by Helen on several occassions. They decided that they would tell the public about the anomalies. However, Helen had a darker motive. Oliver Leek and Helen had been collecting creatures from the anomalies. Stephen fell out with Nick when Stephen said that they didn't have the right to decide what the public should know. Nick later hit Stephen when Stephen said no wonder Helen turned to him.
Stephen went to join Helen in Leek's bunker knowing nothing about the monsters. Stephen and Helen later met Nick. Together they decided to seak the monsters in the bunker, but the door had to be sealed in the inside so Stephen sacrificed himself to keep all the creatures in the bunker. At Stephen's funeral Helen placed an amonite shell on his grave.
